Socials
Aside from all the competitions and training, socials are an important part of the club. Kicking back and having some fun off the ballroom floor and onto the Rubix dancefloor is a great way to relax and get to know everyone! Socials range from nights out in town or on campus to sunny picnic by the lake, or movie nights. These are a great chance for the whole club to mix. Although it might feel daunting to join a new society, come to a BLDC social and you'll definitely have a great time! Read below for specific events in the year...
Team Surrey Colours Ball
Every year Surrey BLDC attends the Team Surrey Colours Ball, which celebrates all the achievements of each club within Team Surrey and features a series of awards for both teams and indivduals. It's at these nights that the individuals within Surrey BLDC who have done outstandingly well throughout the last few years receive their Colours Awards. The list of our past winners can be seen in our Hall of Fame. It's always a fantastic night and a great way to round off the sporting season.
Varsity
Varsity is a chance for you to show your competitive edge and compete against Royal Holloway in the battle of the Stags Vs the Bears! Every year Surrey Uni competes in Varsity and has won for the last 11 years in a row!
Strictly Come Surrey
This is the event of the year that cannot be missed! Strictly Come Surrey started in 2016 and has grown considerably over the years. This is a chance for the whole club to get involved in one of the biggest and most popular events on campus over the year! There is a team dance involving members of all levels who want to be involved, so don't be disheartened from signing up if you are a beginner! If you haven't caught the dancing bug by the time of the show, you certainly will have by the time it's over!
Masquerade Ball
This is a laid-back celebratory event held in March. A nice casual party for everyone to get together and celebrate victories at competitions. And of course in Masquerade fancy dress!
Gradsport
This event is held at the end of the year where we welcome back BLDC alumni to compete against the students. This is a lovely event to reunite with old members with a bit of healthy competition and a party afterwards!
Christmas Ball
Before we break up for the Christmas holidays we have a party where we give awards, do some fun dances and celebrate all our achievements! There is usually food and drink, and it's a great opportunity to dress up and hang out with all your friends!
